This dress combines two traditional tie-and-dye techniques to make for a subtle yet vivid attire. Free-flowing reds and yellows, reminiscent of a sunny day, were created by bundle-dyeing with marigold flowers and lac. A stark juxtaposition is created by using clamps while over-dyeing with our homegrown natural indigo. The resulting crepe dress is a vibrant yet lightweight addition to any wardrobe.
from the dyer’s journal
Dyeing with natural colours involves letting nature take its course. The shades are a product of the dye, water’s composition, dyebath’s pH, mordants, type of fabric and weather conditions. This means no two fabrics will have the exact same colours.
That’s why we urge you to cherish this piece – coloured using pieces from this Earth and all the tiny imperfections it holds.
